Mather Airport is located just outside of Rancho Cordova and is the host of the annual California Capital Airshow! The city of Rancho Cordova teams up with Sacramento County to host the 2 day event. The Capital Airshow features historic air planes and fighters jets including the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds – they take turns each year taking overs our skies and are the hit of the show! When you live in Rancho Cordova within close proximity of the air port (hint, hint Kavala Ranch) you can watch the planes from your backyard while BBQing. The airshow is an exhilarating week for our region as you can see and hear the jets practicing and might even run into a Thunderbird Pilot at a local brewery (ask me how I know)!
